Sick and tired of being a nurse/healthcare provider? Feeling trapped in this profession? Feeling stagnant and need a change? Been bullied and pushed to the limits? Maybe it is time for a change- and thats what our guest Jennifer Groenewold did! She was an ICU nurse for many years and one pivotal moment made her re-think her entire career. From the ICU to the courtroom, Jennifer is still making an impact in healthcare, protecting the frontlines in healthcare, lawyer style!
Jennifer completed her Bachelor of Science of Nursing at the University of Alberta in 2001. She has worked on the medical unit, cardiac cath lab, neuro/trauma ICU, general systems ICU, and coronary care ICU.
In 2009, Jennifer applied to law schools, and received an early acceptance at Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. After completing her law degree she started her articles at a large downtown law firm where she primarily practiced personal injury defence work and defending nurses in medical negligence cases. After a few years of private practice, she made the change to work in public law, at the BC College of Nurses and Midwives. She currently holds the position of legal counsel in the Inquiry, Discipline and Monitoring department.
